Business programming language?

I have an internship at a high tech company under their business development department and my supervisor was telling me about how i should learn some HIgh level programming in order for me to understand the business architecture. He couldnt make out the language because he hasnt been in school for a long time but i was hoping someone could tell me what a good programming language for business student would be. Thanks!
