Confused about my feelings for my best friend....?

So he's my best friend and he told me he liked me a few days ago....i kinda blew him off and changed the subject...but now he's away for a month and i miss him so so so much! When im talking to him i know theres a tinny tiny part of me that likes him but the part of me that considers him a friend is a hundred times more powerful...but when he's gone for a long time i have this longing to talk to him and it seems like my feelings intensify?...i dunno why do i feel like this?
